Gerald M. Effenheim

Gerald M. Effenheim, 80, of Wales, entered eternal life peacefully at home Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Milwaukee, he was the son of Edward and Edith (nee Schmidt) Effenheim.

He was employed with Harley-Davidson for 39 years, the last several years in fabrication and research. Gerald was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in Iceland during World War II.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn Zach; his children Bruce (Lori) Effenheim, and Michelle and Victoria Arthur; and his grandchildren Adam, Nicholas, Eric, Jason and Katelyn. He is also survived by his brother Roy (Carol) Effenheim; his sisters Dorothy Riesen and Edith (Edwin) Bruskewitz; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his brothers Edward and Raymond Effenheim.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 4-8 p.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc, where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choosing.
