Edna A. Steffen

Edna A. Steffen, 92, of Mukwonago, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006.

She was born Jan. 13, 1914 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Julius and Catharine (nee Ihling) Kroll.

Edna was married July 20, 1935 to Gordon Steffen, who died in 1984. She retired as a bookkeeper for Brittingham & Hixon Lumber Company in Mukwonago after more than 20 years of work. A member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mukwonago, she was very active in the St. Johnís Ladies Aid, and was an avid sheephead player.

Survivors include her children Judy (Gary) Duvernell and Joyce (John) Hill; her grandchildren Barbara Wrenn, Patricia Schnell, Jeffery Duvernell, Michelle Lusic, Lana Kowalczyk, Julie Devlin and Stephanie Dec; as well as great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Richard A. Steffen in 1973 and granddaughter Karen Hunkins in 2005.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 1-3 p.m. at Schmidt & Bartelt Van-Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago, where a service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Keith B. Kuschel. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
