Theodore Everett ‘Ted’ Letson

Theodore Everett "Ted" Letson, 77, of Mauston, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Villa Pines Nursing Home in Friendship following a long illness. He was born June 26, 1928, in Milwaukee.
A Wisconsin native, Ted resided in Milwaukee, Calhoun, Waukesha and Mauston. He was the son of Everett and Evelyn (nee Yurgae) Letson. On June 3, 1950, he married Yvonne Graf. On June 4, 1950, he graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha.
Ted worked as a wholesale bakery salesman. He also taught at Mauston Area High School. He spent many years as a substitute for New Lisbon schools. An Eagle Scout, he worked at Camp Castle Rock. He was instrumental in developing Camp Long Lake of Potawonie Area Council. Ted was a member of the Mauston Lions Club and served on committees for the city of Mauston. He enjoyed camping, hunting and travel, both in the United States and overseas.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvonne; a daughter, Lynn (Jerry) Gaffey of Waukesha; and three sons, Leigh of Basalt, Colo., Larry (Kay) of Eau Claire and Lon (Irene) of Sun City, Calif. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Pilger, and Deke, Cassidy, Andrew, Adam and Adriana Letson, and two sisters, Sandra Geiger and Karla (Ted) Kovacie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arlen.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 20,
at Bethany Lutheran Church in Mauston. Interment will be in the Sechlerville Cemetery, Hixton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Mauston Lions or Lioness Clubs.
