Violet M. Burrie

Violet M. Burrie, age 94, died Wednesday at her Oak Hill Terrace home.

Violet was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Waukesha to Swiss parents, Benedict and Rosa (Aschimann) Burrie. Violet graduated from Waukesha High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in various industries. She also worked at the Waukesha County Courthouse in the Department of Health. She retired as a secretary from Waukesha County Technical College.

Violet was a long-time member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the senior choir and was a member of the former Dorcas Missionary Guild. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, sewing, reading, genealogy and traveling. She was a charter member of the local Springs Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Daisy, Lillian and Rose; brothers, Ben and John; nieces, nephews, half-sisters and half-brothers.

Private services were held. Burial was at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials to the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ Rebuilding Fund, 1220 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 are suggested. Randle-Dable Funeral Home assisted the family.
