Alvera I. Box, of the town of Vernon, was born to eternal life on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was 72 years old.
Alvera was born in Pewaukee on May 9, 1933, the daughter of Robert and Olga (nee Splett) Freyer. On Nov. 3, 1951, she married William J. Box at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha.
Alvera was a member of Vernon Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Quilting Group at the church. She loved spending time at the cabin in Hiles, Wis., and loved fishing there on Pine Lake.
Survivors include her husband, William J.; her children, Barbara (Alan) Jerich, William R. and Brian (Jodie); her grandchildren, Jessica and Heather Jerich and Elizabeth and Katherine Box; brothers and sisters, the Rev. Dr. Ellsworth (Kay) Freyer, Charlotte (John) Maile, Bernice (Jack) King, Virginia (Larry) Borck and Darlene (Robert) Kleinow; and other relatives and friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Vernon Evangelical Lutheran Church, S900-W27550 National Ave. (Hwy. ES). The Rev. Paul Dawson will officiate.
Interment will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Vernon Center Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church would be appreciated.
