Peter J. Wilbur

Peter J. Wilbur, 57, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born in Waukesha on July 12, 1948, the son of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Rankin) Wilbur. He attended the Waukesha schools, graduating from Waukesha High School with the Class of 1966. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Marines, serving as a combat photographer in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. Upon his discharge in 1970, he settled in the Waukesha area.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Vietnam Veterans of America, all of Eagle River.

He liked to golf and also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Peter Joseph Wilbur and Douglas Raymond Wilbur, both of Eagle River; twin daughters, Maude (Declan) Lynch and Margaret (Jim) Wolter, both of New City, N.Y.; two brothers, Joe (Pat) Wilbur of Tampa, Fla., and David Wilbur of Yelm, Wash.; and two sisters, Jane (Rich) Coffman of Vista, Calif., and Maude (Jim) Hefley of Kent, Wash.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River, Mich., with the Rev. Dawn Treado-Green to officiate and the West Side Veterans Council to accord military rites.

Interment will be held Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River.

The family suggests donations for the Wilbur Children Support Fund, c/o Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River.
