Bertha L. Poeppel

Bertha L. Poeppel (nee Pillsbury) passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006. She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Wisconsin. She was married to August K. Poeppel on June 4, 1949; he preceded her in death May 27, 1997.

Bertha and her husband spent many years caring for foster children in their home. They were both active members in their church, the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ. Her hobbies were crocheting, craft work and playing cards.

They are survived by two daughters, Deborah (Bruce) Aldrich and Joyce Gish; one son, Robert (Lynn) Stengel; five grandchildren, Trenton and Shanna Aldrich, Sarah and Katie Gish and Colleen Pisaris; and seven great-grandchildren. She is the dear sister of Carl (Gladys) Pillsbury, Harold (Georgia) Pillsbury, Arnold Pillsbury, Phoebe (Phil) Whitney, Edward Pillsbury, Caroline Moore, Juanita (Bill) Schoenbeck, Edna Stark, Sarah Wagner, Albert (Alice) Pillsbury and Jimmy Pillsbury. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 13, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94). Interment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.
