Edna Ponsegrau (nee Kuehl), 95, formerly of Waukesha, died Jan. 17, 2006, at Brentwood Healthcare in Sagamore Hills, Ohio.
Edna was the beloved aunt and godmother of Marilyn Klement (Jonathan), and the dear grand aunt of Scott and Maj. Steven Klement of the U.S. Army.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, whom she married Sept. 19, 1948; and her two brothers, Emil Kuehl (Hilda) and Ervin Kuehl (June).
Edna served her Lord by being active at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha since 1955. She taught Bible school and Sunday school and was active in Ladies’ Aid and the Missionary Society. She was president of the church chapter of the Aid Association for Lutherans and volunteered with the Wisconsin Lutheran Children’s Aid.
Edna received her nursing diploma in 1935 from the Chicago School of Nursing and cared compassionately for many people. In her youth, she was organist for Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Arthur Koepsell will officiate. A luncheon continuing the celebration of Edna’s life will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place at Breed Union Free Cemetery in Breed.
