Florence Bloedel, 81, entered heaven Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006. She was born in Milwaukee on May 26, 1924, to Bernhard and Marie (nee Strohoecker) Ahlmann.
Florence graduated from Carroll College with a degree in professional fine arts. She was an artist and sculptor. She taught kindergarten at Atonement Lutheran School and sculpture at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Elfred Bloedel of Waukesha, and their children, Becki (James) O’Loughlin of Woodbridge, Va., Janis Smith of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Bloedel of Waukesha, Lynn (John) Stephani of Waupaca and Carolyn (Jack) Kelly of Zion, Ill. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Gena, Scott, Jennifer, Collin, Chelsy, Kaylee, Erin, Rachel and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Aine and Gavin; and three sisters. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and infant children, David and Dorcas.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1025 Whiterock Ave., with the funeral service at 6 p.m. Pastor Lawrence Gates will be officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday, Jan. 28, at Graceland Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
