Faye Chronis of North Prairie died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Waukesha Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center at age 75. Faye was born in Pewaukee on Feb. 9, 1930, the daughter of R.L. and Rose Gahan. She graduated from Pewaukee High School and then Milwaukee State Teachers College.
She started her teaching career in Milwaukee and was a substitute teacher in various school districts, retiring after 20 years as a teacher’s aide in the Eagle School District. Faye’s loves in life included spending the summers in Door County, genealogy, bird watching and classical music.
Faye will be sadly missed by her husband, George, whom she married June 23, 1951; her children, Nancy (Leslie) Poch of Downers Grove, Ill., William (Kathy) Chronis of Waukesha and Cathleen (Carmine) D’Amato of Sheboygan; her grandchildren, BJ Chronis, Kevin and Carla Poch; and her stepmother, Dora Gahan. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the 8 p.m. funeral service Monday, Jan. 30, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Entombment will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Faye’s name may be directed to the Ridges Sanctuary, Baileys Harbor or the North Prairie Historical Society.
