Laura Howard of Waukesha died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Woodland Health Care in Brookfield, at age 72. Laura was born April 25, 1933, in Waukesha, the daughter of Ernest and Alma (nee Petterle) Ver Vooren.
Laura graduated from Waukesha High School in 1951. She was employed as a part-time bookkeeper and secretary for Kenneth Construction and other companies before her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. William Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers, and an active member of the Fire Fighters Auxiliary. Laura's primary passion and love in her life was her children and grandchildren, but she also enjoyed trying new restaurants, playing cards, shopping excursions and her friends.
Laura will be sadly missed by her three children, Barbara (Mark) Howard Zyvoloski of Port Washington and Linda (John) Collard and Steve (Gina) Howard, both of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Brendan, Taylor, Austin, Dillan and Allison; her brother, Arthur Ver Vooren of King; her sister, Grace Wyrick of Wauwatosa; and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Donald and Richard; and her aunt, Laura.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, with the Rev. Leonard Barbian officiating.
