August L. Sanders, 81, of Waukesha, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006. He was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Black Creek, to August and Clara Wichman Sanders.

After graduating from Ripon High School, he joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He retired from Wisconsin Centrifugal in Waukesha. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling and walking his four-footed companion, Pepe.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Emily (nee Chapman); children, Larry Sanders, Evelyn (John) Laska, Marilyn Sanders and Karen Rondelle; stepchildren, Marlene (Bill) Egly, John (Donna) Champan and Don (Debbie) Champan; sister, LeMay Pfeiffer; brother, Gerald (Wanda) Sanders; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Clara Sanders, and brother, Lester Sanders.

Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 24, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road in Waukesha. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
