Roger F. Pagel

Roger F. Pagel, 83, of Waukesha, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at AngelsGrace Hospice.

He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Plymouth to Ida and William Pagel.

For three years he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. While stationed in Illinois, he met his future wife, Betty Lou Reed. They were married Jan. 9, 1946. Roger was employed at Amron Corp. for 25 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Orlando, Fla., where they lived for 20 years before their house was destroyed by hurricanes Charley and Frances in 2004. They then returned to Waukesha to be near their children. Roger was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved oil painting and fishing, and he was a member of a tennis club. He and his wife started My Brother's Keeper Organization while members of St. Isaacs Church in Orlando, Fla. Roger volunteered by taking people communion, to doctor's appointments and shopping. Roger was a perfectionist at everything he did.

Roger will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 60 years; son, Michael Pagel of Waukesha; daughters, Carol Partin of Pewaukee, Kathy (Dennis) Thompson of Shawano and Mary Jo Cacciotti of Pewaukee; grandchildren, Kim (James) Beighley, Sara Torres and Rico Cacciotti; four great-grandchildren, Lukas and Angelina Torres and Ariana and Jaden Beighley; brother, Robert (Eileen) Pagel of Madison and sister, June Brookshire of Harrisonville, Mo., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David, grandchildren, John and Andrea, and his brother, Victor, who died in December 2005.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass. The Rev. Jim Volkert will officiate. Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at 10 a.m.
