Steve A. Kinnier

Dec. 30, 1970 - July 23, 2006

Steve A. Kinnier, 35, of Hartland, died of a broken heart Sunday, July 23, 2006.

He was born in Whittier, Calif., on Dec. 30, 1970, to parents Carolyn and Robert Kinnier. In 1978, the family moved to Colgate, where Steve attended North Lake Elementary School. He graduated from Arrowhead High School in 1989. He was a former state breast stroke champion and represented Wisconsin in the National Junior Olympics. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Madison Area Technical College in the early 1990s, where he briefly swam for the university.

Steve was a member of the Monches Recreation Department; he enjoyed camping, traveling, boating and sailing. He enjoyed sporting events and was an avid Packers and Badgers fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn, in 2004. He is survived by his sister, Deb (Shawn) Laibly of Oshkosh. He was Uncle Cheese to Luke, Cassie, Daniel and Jade. He is further survived by his father, Bob Kinnier of Florida; his aunt and uncle, Carl (Mary) Benz; his aunts, Anne Kinnier and Vickey Kinnier; cousins, Paul, Eric, Alex, Christine, Sean, and Matthew; and other relatives and friends.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass on Saturday, July 29, at St. Clare Catholic Church, Highway 83, North Lake. Burial of cremains will be in St. Clare Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to establish a swimming scholarship at Arrowhead High School in Steve’s name.
