Walter R. "Bud" Pfeifer

May 18, 1919 - June 14, 2006

Lifelong Waukesha resident Walter R. "Bud" Pfeifer, 87, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at LindenGrove Health Care Center in Waukesha.

He was born in Waukesha on May 18, 1919, to William and Greta (nee Strohhoecker) Pfeifer. Bud was the first person from Waukesha to enlist in the service after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following the war, he married the former M. Corinne Weber on Nov. 18, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2001. He had been employed at Weber Oil and Union Oil retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Dutch Club, Wisconsin Campers Association and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a loving father to M. Susan (David) Hamp, Robert W. (Diana) Pfeifer and Lynn (Frank) Ballendux, all of Waukesha; grandfather to David (Christi) Hamp, Jr. of Merton, Thom (Robin) Hamp of Waukesha, Michael (Amy) Hamp of Waukesha, Robert Pfeifer, Jr. of Merton, Cynthia Pfeifer of Pewaukee, Frank Ballendux, Jr. of Waukesha and Jessica Ballendux of Milwaukee; great-grandfather to Sean, Colin, Paige, Izabella, Nicolette and Logan. Other relatives and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William, Viola Pfeifer, Ervin, Elfreda Scheppa, Betty Toycen, Virginia Crowley, Louise Nelson and Frances Smith.

Visitation for Bud will be held Saturday, June 17, 2006, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Private interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
