Eleanor C. Bowe

March 30, 1913 - June 26, 2006

Eleanor C. Bowe, 93, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born March 30, 1913, in Waukesha, to William J. and Ella E. (nee Merten) Bowe.

In 1930, she graduated from Waukesha High School and then continued her education at Carroll College, Racine/Kenosha Normal School, and then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She spent the next 47 years teaching elementary school first at Cottage School, a one room school, and then in Waukesha, at Blair and Banting. In 1977, she retired.

She will be deeply missed by her sister, Elizabeth A. Bowe of Waukesha; brother, William C. (Carolyn) Bowe of Thiensville; nephews, Daniel (Laurel) Bowe of Cedarburg and Michael (Linda) Bowe of Franklin; and nieces, Ellen (Jeff) Ehlers of Denver and Patricia (Daniel) Frazier of Middleton. Grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Bert Ehrisman.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the noon funeral Mass on Friday, June 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave. (corner of Hartwell and Newhall avenues), Waukesha. The Rev. James Volkert will be presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
