Dr. Eugene W. Braunschweig

Dr. Eugene W. Braunschweig of Delafield was born to eternal life Thursday, March 2, 2006, at age 76, surrounded by his family.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Lee (nee Ashley); loving father of Linda (Charles) Plante, Karen (John) Smart, Joni (Gary) Matteson, Jason Braunschweig, Amy Braunschweig and Joel (Cynthia) Braunschweig; proud grandfather of Erin, Megan, Alyssa, Sarah, Andrew, Charlie, Jessie, Jared, Jonny, Jack and William; dear brother of Arlin Smith; fond son-in-law of Lorraine Ashley; and dear brother-in-law of Jeffrey (Donna) Ashley and Scott Ashley. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Eugene was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Parks; brother, pastor Oscar Braunschweig; sister, Miriam Waldie; and parents, pastor Oscar and Lena (nee Meyer) Braunschweig.
Dr. Eugene William Braunschweig was a caring, compassionate physician in the Delafield-Pewaukee area for almost 50 years. He played many sports, focusing primarily on tennis and golf in later years. An avid music lover, he enjoyed jazz and sang in the Waukesha Choral Union and his church choir. He had a great passion for reading and sincere interest in World War II literature. Since the 1950s, Gene also enjoyed playing cards with his poker club. Eugene served on the Cushing School Board and Christ the King Church Council. He was a member of Christ the King choir for 45 years, Association of Osteopathic Physicians, Wisconsin State Medical Society, American College of Osteopathic Physicians and the Waukesha Choral Union. He was also the team physician for Kettle Moraine High School football and the school physician at St. Johnís Northwestern Military Academy for 27 years.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the noon funeral service Saturday, March 11, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1600 N. Genesee St., Delafield. Pastors Deane Peterson and David Peters will be officiating. Following the service there will be fellowship and a luncheon at the church. Private inurnment will be at St. Johnís Northwestern Columbarium.
