Lester Hugo Hoover, 84, formerly of Pewaukee, died Friday, March 3, 2006, in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Pewaukee, he was the son of the late Hugo R. Bahr and Lorena H. (nee White) Hoover, and was adopted by Luther H. Hoover.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the field artillery unit in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the Wisconsin National Guard before being discharged in 1950. For more than 42 years, he worked as a supervisor and foreman for the Falk Corp. in Milwaukee. He was a member of the grace baptist Church in Sperry, Okla.

Lester married Ruth (nee Sayles) Hoover of Broken Arrow on Dec. 31, 1940, and was married for more than 45 years. He enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruth Hoover, of Broken Arrow; his daughters, Kathy (Linford) Rickards of Lantana, Texas, and Marjorie (William) Field of Broken Arrow; his son, David, (Linda) Hoover of West Allis; as well as nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.

Services were held Tuesday, March 7, at Grace Baptist Church in Sperry.
