Elizabeth Jo Witkowski (nee George)

April 8, 1978 - March 7, 2006

Elizabeth Jo Witkowski (nee George), 27, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. Elizabeth was born in Racine on April 8, 1978, daughter of Cletus and Gloria (nee Totero) George.

Liz was a graduate of Union Grove High School Class of 1996. Furthering her education, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside summa cum laude with a degree in English and received her teaching certificate from Concordia University. She was most recently teaching at Union Grove High School. She enjoyed her time spent working with her Nanu Sam, Aunt Angie and Uncle Al at Totero’s. On Sept. 14, 2002, at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, she was united in marriage to Christopher M. Witkowski. Liz had an ever-giving heart who always put everyone’s needs first. Even in death she gave of herself by donating her organs. Since Jan. 13, she especially loved her life as a new mother to her precious son, Sam. Liz will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and dear friend to many. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Chris of Greenfield; son, Sam; her parents, Clete and Gloria George of Union Grove; her brother and sister-in-law, Dave (Amy) George of Franksville; her grandfather, Santo "Sam" Totero of Racine; her mother-in-law, Catherine Witkowski of Waukesha; brother-in-law, Andy Witkowski of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Allyson Witkowski of Eau Claire; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends; and her three dogs, Tabbs, Lucky and Spencer. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virginia Totero, Jerry and Marie George, and her aunt, Alma Renish.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., Racine, and Tuesday, March 14, from 10 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., Racine, with the Rev. Mark R. Jones and the Rev. Mark Payne concelebrating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Kinzie Avenue.

Memorials to the family for an account to be established for their son, Sam Fredrick Witkowski, have been suggested.
