Robert J. Manley

Robert J. Manley, 86, of Hartland, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia (Handcock), and children, Peggy Mesick of Sullivan and Debra Elger of Pewaukee. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II, including seven months in the European theater. He is a member and past vice-commander of Flanagan-Dorn Post 294 of the American Legion and of Marshall-Johnson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5158. He was also a member of the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
After the war, Bob operated a bulk oil business from Hartland and then North Prairie until 1964. That year, he and Patricia started a 31-year proprietorship of Manleyﾕs Tap, a popular family tavern on West Capitol Drive, Hartland. He retired in 1995.
Visitation will be held from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, March 20, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Legion/VFW color guard and firing squad.
