Donald W. Martinson

Donald W. Martinson, 71, of Pewaukee and Lake Wales, Fla., died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla. Don was born July 13, 1934, in Madison.

He was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran and retired from the Navy Reserves after 22 years. Don was an I.H. dealer in Janesville, Prairie du Sac and Brooklyn, Wis., for 25 years and was a past president of Wisconsin Farm Equipment Dealers. Mr. Martinson also retired from Primerica Financial Services after 15 years as a national sales director.

For 36 years, Don was a private pilot and a major with the Civil Air Patrol in the Waukesha squadron. He was also a member of Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delafield.

Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol; his son, Jim (Julie) of Pewaukee; daughters, Katherine (Roger) Remmel of Hubertus and Sherrie (Dan) Jaworski of Waukesha; eight grandchildren; brothers, William (Shirlee) of Poynette and Robert (Sharon) of Oregon, Wis., Richard of Arizona, Kenneth (Vickie) of Oregon, Thomas of Oregon, Timothy (Linda) of Madison, Gary (Rebecca) of California and David (Lyndie) of California; and sisters, Patricia "Patty" Owen of California and Mary Lou (Paul) Hodel of Belleville.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, March 23, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (on the corners of highways J and JJ, about four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Interment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Donald W. Martinson Memorial Fund, which will be established at a later date.
