Raymond L. ‘Ray’ Holzman

Jan. 12, 1936 - March 27, 2006

Raymond L. "Ray" Holzman, a longtime resident of Waukesha, died peacefully Monday, March 27, 2006, at his home at age 70. Ray was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Milwaukee, the son of Raymond and Catherine (nee Eckstein) Holzman.

He was united in marriage to Sharon Koehn on Sept. 5, 1964, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ray was employed as director of building inspection for the city of Waukesha for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Southeastern Wisconsin Building Inspectors Association. Ray enjoyed his lifelong hobby of woodworking and was a sports enthusiast. He also loved hunting and fishing at his beloved Wilderness Lake.

Ray will be sadly missed by his wife, Sharon of Waukesha; his three children, Christine Holzman of Milwaukee, Julie (Lance) Christenson of Waukesha and Paul Holzman of Phoenix; one grandchild, Cade Christenson; one brother, Richard (Isolde) Holzman of Brookfield; and two sisters, Lynn (Glenn) Frank of Brookfield and Kay (Rollie) Krause of Brookfield. He is also survived by his close extended family (the Muellers and Koehns), nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Connor Raymond Christenson.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. vigil service Friday, March 31, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A memorial Mass will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, with the Rev. Michael Michalski officiating.
