William J. Box

William J. Box, 81, of the town of Vernon, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Jericho Corners, he was the son of the late William Otto and Elsie (nee Schumacher) Box.

He was married to Alvera I. Freyer on Nov. 3, 1951, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. For more than 30 years, he was a school bus driver for Hank’s Transportation of Mukwonago. William loved spending his time fishing at his cabin in Hiles and with his wife and family on Pine Lake. A member of the Vernon Lutheran Church, he played dartball in the church league.

Survivors include his children, Barbara (Alan) Jerich, William R. Box and Brian (Jodie) Box; his grandchildren, Jessica and Heather Jerich and Elizabeth and Katherine Box; and his brother, Gerald (Ruth) Box.

He was predeceased by his wife and parents.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Vernon Lutheran Church, S90-W27550 National Ave. and Highway ES, immediately followed by a funeral service at the church. The Rev. Paul Dawson will officiate. Burial will be at Vernon Center Cemetery and memorials to the family are appreciated.
