Stephen R. Pichotta
Dec. 6, 1949 - May 23, 2006
Stephen R. Pichotta, 56, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, May 23, 2006, at his home in Waukesha after a brief illness. He was born to Francis and Edith (nee Rasmussen) Pichotta on Dec. 6, 1949, and was the youngest of four boys.
Steve graduated from Waukesha High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973 and was stationed in Oklahoma and Alaska. Steve married Mary Schimmel in August 1975 and he had two children with her, Jaclyn and Michael, both of Waukesha. He married Beverly Zeigh in July 1990. Steve worked at Yaskawa-Magnetek in New Berlin for the past 20 years.
Steve had many interests and hobbies. He loved deer hunting, fishing and golfing; in addition, he played for Rano’s and Fracaro’s pool leagues for 25 years. Steve enjoyed collecting beer signs, t-shirts and glasses, and took special pride in his yard as well as his cockatiels, Toby, Rudi and the late Tyler. Steve looked forward to deer season at his brother George’s
farm in Coon Valley and spending summers at Summit Lake fishing and taking leisurely drives looking for deer and visiting friends.
He treasured sharing time with his children, often just watching a movie and having popcorn together. Until her death early this month, Steve visited his mother almost daily at Applewood Assisted Senior Care in New Berlin. He and his brother, Donald, spent many hours with her, talking about old times, playing cribbage and watching the birds at the feeders outside her window.
Steve is survived by his wife, Beverly of Waukesha; daughter, Jaclyn of Waukesha; son, Michael of Waukesha; two brothers, George (Susan) Pichotta of Janesville and Donald (Kathleen) Pichotta of Wauwatosa; special nephew, Andrew Pichotta of Janesville; mother-in-law, Helen Halama of Waukesha; sisters-in-law, Alice (Dave) Krug of Waukesha, Judy (Britt) Wolter of Oconomowoc, Betty (Chuck) Caroll of New Berlin, Tina Bell (fiance Ron) of Milwaukee and Margaret Zeigh of Waukesha; brothers-in-law, Tim Zeigh of Waukesha and Dennis Zeigh of Delavan; uncles, Bruce (June) Rasmussen of Beaver Dam and Peter Rasmussen of Summit Lake; aunts, Alice (Gordon) Schulze of Bonduel, Beverly Rasmussen of Green Bay and Mary Pichotta of Northridge, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
