Eugene ‘Gene’ Andersen

June 22, 1943 - May 28, 2006

Eugene "Gene" Andersen, 62, of Elkhorn, formerly of Hinckley Ill., passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 22, 1943, in Aurora, Ill., the son of the late Roy and Hazel (nee Halford) Andersen.

Gene was united in marriage Nov. 16, 1962, at his home in Hinckley to the former Linda Wahlgren, and they happily spent the next 43 years together. He served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime member of the Hinckley Methodist Church in Hinckley and was employed for many years as a purchasing manager at Castalloy Foundry.

He especially liked to go hunting and fishing. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, was known for his great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Andersen of Elkhorn; his children, Shelly (John) Wochoski of Petoskey, Mich., Sally Andersen of Dayton, Ohio, Wendy (Mike) Kloostra of Ravenna, Mich., and Ron (Kathy) Andersen of Elkhorn; his grandchildren, Graysen, Robert, Heidi and Sara; his brother, Bob (Melody) Andersen of Johnsonboro, Ark.; his stepmother, Betty Faye Andersen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Thursday, June 1, at Toynton Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth. Interment will be held in private.

Memorials may be directed to his family in care of the funeral home.
