Gloria A. ‘Queenie’ Greene

Gloria A. "Queenie" Greene, 83, of Waukesha, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born May 13, 1923, in Oconomowoc, to Erv and Helen (nee Fisher) Zindars.
She and her husband operated Jim’s Union 76 Station on Barstow and Main streets and also on Summit Avenue in Waukesha. Gloria was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She volunteered at The Caring Place, taught Sunday school at church, cooked and baked, made her famous potato salad, enjoyed parties, and most importantly, raised seven children.
She is survived by her children, James (Judy) Greene of Waukesha, John (Cheryl) Greene of Waukesha, Steve Greene of Waukesha, Marnee (the late William) Leonard of Pewaukee, Wendy (Tony) Bacon of Waukesha, Scott (Pam) Greene of Waukesha and the late Holly (the late Donald) Wild. She is further survived by 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lois Davis of Oconomowoc and Joanne Horst of Hartford; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David "Bill" (Pat) Greene, Thomas "Dick" (Nancy) Greene, Paul (the late Joan) Greene, Harriet Greene, Judy Green, Bob Pike and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A., and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eddie Greene, Robert (Dorothy) Greene, Virginia Cotton, Alfred Greene, Shirley Pike, Frank Green, Joseph Cotton, Robert Horst and Eugene Davis.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, and will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday, June 3, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
