Frank Garcia

Frank Garcia, 80, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kennedale, Texas, on Jan. 29, 1926, to Enrique and Jesus (nee Ochoa) Garcia.

At age 17, his family came to Wisconsin. At 18, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the 89th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. Joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 721 in 1947, he was an active lifetime member until his death. As a member of the Color Guard, he participated in many events. He was an honorary member of the Marine Corps Color Guard. Frank was an avid bowler and bowled a 300 game in 1971. His latest passion was going on gambling trips with his wife, Mary. He also enjoyed playing in a euchre league once a week and loved to tell jokes of all kinds.

Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Whitstone); children, Colleen (Eric) Van Alen, Patricia Garcia, Rose (Patrick) Karl, Rick Garcia (Colleen) and Ann (Kevin) Stuempges; grandchildren, Tonya, Corey and Travis Van Alen, Jessica Birmingham (Gerardo), David Garcia, Doreen (Andy) Sutilla, James Karl, Carrie, Jenny, Rico and Christian Garcia, and Kimberly, Kyle and Kaylee Stuempges; and great-grandchildren, Ahneeza and Misaiel Dominguez and Elliana Sutilla.

Frank is also survived by his sisters, Auerlia Willie (the late Marcos) Lopez, Maria (Ezequiel) Benavides and Virginia (Pedro) Rodriquez; brother, Henry (Olivia) Garcia; sisters-in-law, Margaret (the late Salvador) Garcia, Virginia (the late Trino) Hernandez, Eleanor (the late Roger) Goodspeed and Chris (the late Dick) Whitstone; brothers-in-law, John (Ginger) Whitstone, Larry (Jean) Whitstone and Joe (Geri) Whitstone; and his aunt-in-law, Marian Collins. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his good friend, Larry Howard. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Jesus Garcia; brother, Salvador; sisters, Margaret Salazar and Josephine Hernandez; and grandson, Adam Garcia.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Church and Chapel Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (at the corners of highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), with a vigil service at 3 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Please meet at the church. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Waukesha.
