Timothy H. McDonell

Timothy H. McDonell of Waukesha passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, due to complications from Parkinsonís disease, at age 83.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie; children, Howie (Lisa), Wally (Kim), Jason (Lisa), Todd (Jenny), Jane Hunter (Steven) and Chas (Kali); sisters, Virginia Doyle, Miriam Conley and Florence McDonald; and nine grandchildren.
Dr. McDonell graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1946. He received his medical degree at the unusually young age of 23 due to his admission to an accelerated medical school program designed to meet the need for doctors in the war effort. After three years at the Marshfield Clinic, he practiced urology in Waukesha County for 35 years. He was president of the Waukesha County Medical Society for two years and was president of the Wisconsin Urologic Society. He served on the board of directors of the University of Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association and the editorial board of the University of Wisconsin Medical Journal. After retirement, he became a successful writer and contributed articles to several professional journals and sold articles to numerous publications, including Parents Magazine. He received a first place award from the Wisconsin Council of Writerís in both 1988 and 1990 for the nonfiction category. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for bird watching. He will be truly missed by friends and family.
There will be a greeting of family and friends to celebrate Dr. McDonellís life from 4 p.m. until a 5:30 p.m. remembrance program Sunday, Oct. 8, at Retzer Nature Center, S14-W28167 Madison St., town of Waukesha (located at the western end of Madison Street at its intersection with Highway DT).
