Robert G. ĎBobí Meer

Robert G. "Bob" Meer of Waukesha died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 17, 2006, at his home, at age 83. Bob was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Sharon Center, Iowa, the son of Fred and Mabel (nee Weeber) Meer.

He was united in marriage to Jeanne Brenner on June 20, 1953, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Bob served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and also earned his business degree from the University of Iowa. He was a longtime employee of National Parts Co. in Waukesha. Bob was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, which included singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and helping run the seniors exercise class. He also was a past secretary of the church council, a former member of the Board of Elders and a Lutheran Pioneer leader. Bob enjoyed golfing, gardening and feeding the birds. His daily routine always included proudly raising the American flag at his home. He will be fondly remembered as a kind and gentle man who never said a bad word about anyone.

Bob will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend, Jeanne of Waukesha; his daughter, Wendy (Donald) Dittmar of Milwaukee; his son, Michael (Monica) Meer of Waukesha; five grandchildren, Emily and Katy Dittmar and Anna, Madelaine and Jacob Meer; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Robert Audley - who was also Bobís good friend and golfing buddy; sisters-in-law, Rose Meer and Jean Meer; brothers-in-law, Lloid Grout and Jesse Grout; and also many other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ralph Meer, Ethel Grout, Clarke Meer, Ada Coy, Ida Grout, Roy Meer and R. Gene Meer, and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon memorial service Saturday, Oct. 21, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Larry Gates will officiate.

Memorials may be made in Bobís memory to the WELS Missions (please direct to church address above), or to the charity of the donorís choice.
