Velma E. Voelker, 93, formerly of North Prairie and Weyauwega, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Prairie Maison Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien.
Velma was born Sept. 23, 1913, to Frank and Minnie (nee Smith) Updike of Lynxville. She first married Orville Crusan of Lynxville in 1930, who passed away in 1956. She then married Norman Voelker of Weyauwega in 1961, who passed away in 1999. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield.
Velma is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Leonhard) Gehrke of Janesville, Donna (Douglas) Oberholtzer of Prairie du Chien and Janice (David) Hill of Beloit; one son, Darrel (Carman) Crusan of Lynxville; three daughters-in-law, LaRue (Norman) Pett of Mukwonago, Eileen Crusan of Waukesha and Judy Crusan of Prairie du Sac; four stepchildren, Gloria (Darrel) Holger of Weyauwega, Delores (Paul) Tessen of Fremont, Lois (Lee) Krause of Weyauwega and Wayne (Jane) Voelker of Weyauwega; two brothers, Milford Updike of Janesville and Melvin Updike of Janesville; one sister, Shirley (Robert) Albright of Sun City, Ariz.; 52 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Orville Crusan, who died in 1956; second husband, Norman Voelker, who died in 1999; two sons, Stanley Crusan, who died in 1989, and Lloyd Crusan, who died in 2001; one son-in-law, Thomas Sowlles; one daughter-in-law, Diane Crusan; three brothers, George, Orville and Loren Updike; and three sisters, Olive Potts, Viola Tiffany and Garnette Olson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 312 N. Main St., North Prairie. The Rev. Brady Finnern will officiate with burial at North Prairie Cemetery.
