Gladys Edna Newby

Gladys Edna Newby, surrounded by immediate family at the time of her death, went to heaven Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006.

She was born Gladys Behlke on Dec. 27, 1920, in Shields. She was daughter of Edmund and Edna Behlke.

Gladys was loving and giving. She was a devoted mother and grandmother all of her life. She always gave her time to other people. Her hobbies were bowling, following the Brewers and keeping up with her Packers. Gladyss big heart and sunny disposition will be greatly missed by all.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Jan Newby, Veronica Newby and Laurie Koeberl, and her sons, Cal (Margaret) Newby, Nile (the late Cindy) Newby and Guy Newby. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Kevin Newby, Nate (Nicki) Newby, Mat Newby, Ben Newby, Tony Schirripa and Chris Koeberl. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Abigail and Arabella Newby. Further surviving are her sisters, Grace (the late Bud) Newby, Florence (Robert) Draeger and Georgiann Wasmund; brothers, Vern Behlke, Kenneth (the late Dorothy) Behlke, Rodell (Millie) Behlke, Norman (the late Genevieve) Behlke and Paul (the late Pearl) Behlke; and her special friend, Gary Sheets. She is also loved by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy (Wally) Ziemer; and brother, Merlin Behlke.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (four blocks south of Interstate 94 on the corner of highways JJ and J). Visitation continues from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Nov. 1, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Ashish Verma and staff, Curative Senior Care and Waukesha Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they showed our mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimers Association of Southeastern Wisconsin in Gladyss name.
