Donald C. Wilhelmi, 78, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Waukesha, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006. He was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Langdon, N.D., to Charles and Rose (nee Meyer) Wilhelmi.

In 1978, he retired from the Waukesha Police Department after 25 years of service. Before moving to Arizona in 1988, he was a longtime member at St. William Catholic Church.

He will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Margaret "Marge" (nee Raap); their children, Thomas (Nancy) Wilhelmi and David Wilhelmi; three grandchildren, Stephen (Robynn) Wilhelmi, Carlyn Wilhelmi and Daniel Wilhelmi; great-granddaughter, Kylie Wilhelmi; brother, Robert (Yvonne) Wilhelmi; and sister, Marilyn Allbright. He is further survived by many other relatives, friends and his best friends, Robert and Carol Greenwald. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerome.

A funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 1, in Sun Lakes at St. Steven Catholic Church. Services locally will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Chapel, S22-W22890 E. Broadway, Waukesha. The Rev. Leonard Barbian will be officiating. Full military honors will follow the religious service.
