Cordelle Arlette (nee Stephens) Allen of Waukesha died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at AngelsGrace Hospice at age 75. Cordelle was born March 10, 1931, in Arland Township, the daughter of Alvin and Verna (nee Swant) Stephens.

Cordelle was a member, a volunteer and in the choir at Elmbrook Church. She was active with the senior prayer group, the Telling The Truth Ministry, the First Friday Fellowship, senior bible study and nursing home visitation. During her working years, she started with Wisconsin Telephone in Eau Claire and transferred to the Wauwatosa area in 1983, working there and Milwaukee until 1992 when it became Ameritech. She was also an active member of the Republican Party.

Cordelle will be sadly missed by her husband, Richard Allen, whom she married June 8, 1985; her children, David Lewis of Chicago, Virginia Bilyeu of Eau Claire, Gregory (Jane) Allen of Rohnert Park, Calif., Barbara (Gary) Niedermeier of Frankfort, Ill., and Douglas (Susan) Allen of Oconomowoc; six grandchildren, Corinna (Peter) Schroeder, Kelly and Justin Niedermeier, Anthony Bilyeu and Christopher and Carli Allen; her brother, Arvid (Nancy) Stephens of Hudson; her sisters, Leona (Floyd) Hinze of Pueblo West, Colo., and Clairice (Gerald) Fisher of Lake Geneva; her first husband, Salmer Lewis; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Sept. 9, at Elmbrook Church, 777 S. Barker Road, Brookfield, with the Rev. Roselyn Staples officiating.
