Orville N. Van Kempen

Orville N. Van Kempen, 87, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Born on Oct. 6, 1918, in Pine River, Minn., he was the son of Peter and Laura (nee Blair) Van Kempen.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (nee Winter) Van Kempen; his son, Gerald; his daughter, Carol (Buck) Houston; his grandchildren, Todd (Jackie) Evans, Terry (Lisa) Evans, Brian Van Kempen and Carrie Van Kempen; and his great-grandchildren, Brianna Evans, Austin Evans and Summer Van Kempen. Also surviving are his sisters, Geneva Mohs, Irene (John) Lahaie, his brothers, Ray and twin Ervin (Ruby); and other loving family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Orville Richard Jr., and his daughter-in-law, Luann (nee Malchow) Van Kempen.

Orville and Evelyn were married in Waukesha on Oct. 18, 1941, and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this October. He worked for National Advertising Co., a division of 3M, for 45 years. He loved fishing, bowling and cards.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Grace Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Ave., Waukesha, with a funeral service at 7 p.m. Private burial will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at Prairie Home Cemetery.
