Dorothy Jane Erk (nee White)

Dorothy Jane Erk (nee White) was born March 5, 1917, on the farm beside Elk Lake, Waymart, Pa. She passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2006.

She was the daughter of Grant Wesley White (a logging camp cook and farmer) and Mamie Madura (Delbridge) White (the mother of Viola, Lester, Dwight, Edna, Ethel, Florence, Lois, Dorothy, Bessie, Thelma and two non-surviving children, Blanch, who died of whopping cough, and Charles, who was stillborn). Thelma is the only surviving sibling.

Dorothy had a variety of occupations, starting as a garment factory worker before her marriage, and then farmerís wife until her longest and last employment as a nurseís aid at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha.

Her children were Alfred, Joseph, Gerald and Michael, all non-surviving children. Later Phillip Erk, married to Nancy, currently of Waukesha, and twin girls, Cheryl, married to Larry Rupp of Nebraska City, Neb., and Sharon, married to Keith Knapp of Mukwonago, were born to her.

She has eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: Dawn Erk, married to Bruce Hoefler; John Erk; Amy Rupp, married to David Warga; Bonnie Rupp, married to Ethan Joy; Sherri Knapp, married to Jason Hunter; Kim Knapp, married to John Vanderlinde; Keith Knapp, married to Kristi; and Kristin Knapp, married to Josiah Ii. The great-grandchildren are Eric Hoefler, Emily Hoefler, Kali Erk, Cassandra Warga, Blake Hunter, Brandon Hunter, Zachary Hunter, John Vanderlinde, Olivia VanDerlinde, Joseph Vanderlinde and Lauren Knapp.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until a 6:30 p.m. memorial service Monday, Sept. 18, at Kettle Moraine Evangelical Free Church, N6-W3149 Alberta Drive, Delafield.
