PLEASANT PRAIRIE

Carla J. Krueger

March 3, 1928 - Sept. 11, 2006

Carla J. (nee Miller) Krueger, 78, passed away on Sept. 11, 2006 at Hospice after a four-year struggle with lymphoma.

Born on March 3, 1928 in Waukesha, she was the daughter of Hugh J. and Mary L. (nee Hertz) Miller.

On July 3, 1954, she married Paul E. Krueger, also of Waukesha. The couple settled in Kenosha in 1959 and divorced in 1977.

After graduating with honors from Marquette University School of Nursing, Carla worked with the Visiting Nurses Association in Kenosha for several years before becoming the nurse of Bradford High School in 1964. After 27 years of service, she retired in 1991.

During her retirement, Carla traveled the world, spending time in England, Italy, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, China, Borneo, Thailand, Bali and Singapore. Her young granddaughter, whom she adored, joined her on many of these journeys. When Carla wasn’t traveling or spending time with the rest of her family, she was with dear friends such as Grace Morano, Norma Rasmussen, Mary Lynn Broughman, Kay Miller, Ann Muzenski, Mary Gallager, Jean Schlais, Jeanie Rizzo, Carol Spizzirri, Laurie Polentini, Joyce Gyerina and her oldest and dearest friend Lenore Hinds. She felt that she was blessed to have them and considered them her second family. They constantly leant their infinite support during her illness and are very special to Carla’s family as well.

Surviving are her daughters Paula (Jim) Vojtko of Racine and Shirley (Jeff) Warnock of Kenosha; her granddaughter Kate Vojtko; her stepgrandson Douglas (Rebecca) Vojtko of Franksville; and her brothers Charles Miller of Waukesha and Keith (June) Miller of Pelican Lake.

Preceding her in death are her parents Hugh and Mary Miller, her ex-husband Paul E. Krueger and her brothers Hugh J. Miller of Milwaukee and Richard Miller of Hayward.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Proko Funeral Home. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family appreciates memorials to Hospice House Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158.
