George I. Andersen

George I. Andersen, 87, of Waukesha, died Monday, April 2, 2007, in Libertyville, Ill.

He was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Waukesha, the son of Christian and Ella (nee Goerke) Andersen.

He attended school in Waukesha and graduated from Waukesha High School. George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was a Bronze Star recipient. After the war, he returned home and in 1948 married Marion Bobb in Waukesha.

George was a member of Soat-Vergenz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 721 and was a retiree from Amron Corp. in Waukesha. George loved what he called "the three G’s": golfing, gardening and goofing off.

He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Jeff) Troestler of Sussex and Holli (Brad) Shepherd of Vernon Hills, Ill.; grandchildren, Melissa, Chris, Jessica and Ashlee; brother-in-law Donald (Barb) Bobb; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Andersen, and his son, Doug Andersen.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m.until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Friday, April 6, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha. Burial will follow the funeral services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
