Deedre "Dee" Burrie, 64, of Kendall, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Tomah Memorial Hospital in Tomah. Deedre was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Waukesha, the daughter of Norman and Alice (nee Schneider) Nelson.
She was raised in Waukesha and was a 1960 graduate of the Waukesha High School. Deedre was united in marriage to Benjamin E. Burrie on Feb. 11, 1961, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. She and her husband lived in Waukesha for many years. Dee worked in activities at LindenGrove Nursing Home and also operated a bookstore in Pewaukee. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and flowers. She liked to travel out West and to Canada with her husband. She was especially proud of her new grandson. Dee and her husband moved to the Kendall area in 2005, and Dee, who enjoyed working with the elderly, continued her work at the Tomah Care Center in Tomah and later at Crest View Nursing Home in New Lisbon.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Burrie of Kendall; sons, Benjamin Burrie Jr. of Waukesha and Kevin Burrie of Kendall; daughter, DeeAnn Kirby of Waukesha; mother, Alice Nelson of Camp Douglas; brothers, Albert (Sandra) Nelson of Grafton and Norman (Barbara) Nelson of Nekoosa; mother-in-law, Loretta Burrie of Kendall; grandson, Shane Kirby of Waukesha; and several nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Nelson, in 1984, and her father-in-law, Benjamin Burrie.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, April 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Main St., Hustler, with the Rev. Russell Trachte celebrating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Fountain Township.
