Dorothy Marie ‘Dot’ Sias

Dorothy Marie "Dot" Sias of Waukesha died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Waukesha Springs at age 92. Dot was born Sept. 7, 1914, in Waukesha, the daughter of Charles King and Ida (Wellhausen) King.

Dot graduated from high school and became a nanny for a family in Hubbard Woods, Ill., for seven years. In addition, she worked as a clerical clerk for Metropolitan Life in Chicago for several years. After leaving Metropolitan Life, Dot met and married Wesley on Dec. 10, 1949. Dot supported and traveled with Wesley through the pipeline and gas conversion project. After several years, they moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., where they owned and operated Ward’s Self-Service laundromat for nearly 12 years. After Wesley died April 14, 1991, Dot moved back to Waukesha to be closer to her family.

Dot is survived by her stepchildren, Mary (Jack) Hoxie of Maine, Betty Rickwood of Maryland and Joyce (Robert) Morris of South Carolina; her sister, Myra Kraeblen; her niece, Marilyn (Milton) Hagerstrand; great-niece, Sherry (John) Gerstl; great-nephews, Brian (Marie) Hagerstrand and Robert Hagerstrand; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Laura, Julie and Paul Gerstl and Mikael, Samuel and Briana Hagerstrand. Dot is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; brothers, Burdette, Ray and Elmer King; and her stepson, Robert.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Monday, April 16, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
