Floyd Jennings Nuber Jr.

Floyd J. Nuber Jr., 79, of New Berlin, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007. He was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Germantown, Pa., to Hazel and Floyd Nuber Sr.

As the son of a career naval officer, Floyd lived in many states as he was growing up. After he graduated from Shorewood High School in Milwaukee in 1945, Floyd enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II. After completing his service, he attended Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with a bachelorís degree in mechanical engineering in 1951. In 1953, he married Doris Chambers and they moved to New Berlin. Floyd worked for Rose Industries for more than 20 years before retiring in 1999.

Floyd was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted husband. He enjoyed gardening, raising orchids and travel. He and Doris enjoyed attending many Elderhostel adventures around the country after his retirement and were always planning new trips of discovery.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Nuber; son, Paul (Kellie) Nuber of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughters, Erica Nuber (Howard Saari) of Corona Del Mar, Calif., and Karen Nuber (Paul Dreifus) of Madison; and grandsons, Ian, Nathan, Alex and Bryce Nuber of Fort Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Floyd Sr.; and a son, David Nuber.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners or the American Heart Association.
