Marjorie Gail Schroeder Hielsher

Marjorie Gail Schroeder Hielsher, 94, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, in Fort Myers, Fla. She was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Waukesha, and was a graduate of Carroll College.

She married Harold "Hap" Hielsher in 1936, and they were wed for 55 years.

Margie had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha for many years. She worked at Waukesha Motor Co. as an executive secretary from 1936 to 1941.

Margie and her family moved to Racine in 1953, where she was a member of St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary for 24 years. She was a longtime member of her neighborhood book club and enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and swimming.

Margie and Hap moved to Fort Myers in 1983. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since July 20, 1993, where she made many dear friends.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lewis Williams of Waukesha; daughters, Gail (Larry) Melgary of Marinette and June (Marv) Kretschmer of Sacramento; son, William of Stanwood, Wash.; grandchildren, Carrie (German) Banda of Sussex, and Chris, Spencer and Emily Gomez; great-grandchildren, Michael and Alexandra Banda and Marcus Gomez; nieces, Sally Winkler and Judith Williams; and nephew, Robert Hielsher.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy, and her husband, Hap.

The memorial service was held Friday, March 30, at Church of the Cross in Fort Myers. She will be interred at West Lawn Cemetery in Racine.

The National Cremation Society is aiding the family.
