John R. Tall Aug. 10, 1939 - April 15, 2007
John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1961 with a degree in music education. He received a masterユs of arts degree in band performance from the University of Colorado in 1967. From 1961 to 1965, he was band director at Rufus King High School, Milwaukee Public Schools. From 1965 to 2001, he was director of bands for the Pewaukee Public Schools. John was a well-known music man throughout Wisconsin. John was very active in the Pewaukee area, serving as a volunteer at the Pewaukee Library, Pewaukee Historical Society and the Inner Church Lay Council-Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Pewaukee Scholarship Fund Committee. For several years, he was a member of various choral performing groups, including the Milwaukee Symphonic Singers and the Waukesha Choral Union. He was a frequent traveler, but loved most of all the mountains of Colorado. John is survived by his brothers, Henry (Joan) Tall of Estes Park, Colo., and James Tall of Sturgeon Bay; nephew, Brad (JoAnn) Tall of Brussels; and nieces, Ann Tall of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Jill Deetz of San Diego. He is further survived by grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, other relatives and many many dear friends. A memorial gathering will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Yonke and Son Funeral Home, 205 Prospect Ave., Pewaukee.
