Josephine M. ĎJoí Metzger

Josephine M. "Jo" Metzger, 96, of Oconomowoc, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc. She was born March 19, 1911, in Dorchester, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Maria (nee Munsterman) Overman.
Jo married Gerhard J. Metzger on June 24, 1944, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Ashippun. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1981.
She worked at the Wisconsin State Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Wales for more than 30 years and then retired as supervisor of laundry and housekeeping services at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc. She was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Ashippun, the Ladies Aide group at the church, Shorehaven Service League, the Womanís Club of Oconomowoc and the American Legion Post No. 294 Auxiliary in Hartland.
She is survived by four sisters, Mary Olson of Greenfield, Matilda "Tillie" Steltz of Houston, Frances "Fran" Bentley of Brooklyn, Mich., and Rita Dvorak of Minnetonka, Minn., and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joseph, John and Anton "Tony" Overman; two sisters, Elizabeth Graikowski and Margaret Davies; and five stepbrothers.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Aug. 4, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Ashippun, with the Rev. Gary Tillmann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to be given to St. Johnís Lutheran Building Fund in Ashippun, Shorehaven Health Center in Oconomowoc or the charity of the donorís choice.
