Samuel Bay of Oconomowoc died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at his home. He was 100.
The son of Reinhardt and Amelia (nee Steinley) Bay, he was born July 3, 1907, in Langdon, N.D.
A retired City of Milwaukee police officer, he also worked for Condura Construction and the Carnation Co. On Sept. 22, 1928, he married Evelyn Groklags.
His memberships included St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Germans from Russia and the Retired Policeman’s Association. Samual’s hobbies included picking berries, making wine and gardening. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and skat.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Bay of Phoenix; son, Gerald (Judy) Bay of the town of Summit; brother, John Bay of North Dakota; along with seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; brother, Richard; and sister, Pauline.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 818 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc, with the Rev. Jonathan Schultz officiating. Burial is at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
