Joseph H. Gerth

Joseph H. Gerth, a lifelong resident of Muskego, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at age 66.

He was a life member of the Lakeview Rod and Gun Club, Big Muskego Rod and Gun Club, the North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Wisconsin Hunter Education Instructor Association. Joe was a hunter education instructor for 19-plus years and had taught more than 1,500 students. Joe graduated in 1959 in the first graduating class of Muskego High School. He was an avid bowler and loved the outdoors, being a hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and spending time with his grandchildren. He owned and operated Gerth Heating Service in Muskego.

Joe was the loving husband of Kathleen (nee Wagner); devoted father of Stephanie (Chris) Schuler and Gerald (special friend Niki) Gerth; loving and devoted grandpa of Jordan, Shannon, Mackenzie, Ashley, Nathan and Laura; brother-in-law of Sharyn Wagner, Vicki Davenport and Margaret "Junie" (Albert) Hochschild; uncle to Allen, Stephen, Renee, John, Glenda, Sandy and Karen; and special friend of Skumper and Rae Anne Martin, Doug and Annie Kurth, Fred and Geri Rahm and the Karlstad family. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Calles, Mary Ann Bornfleth and Rose Lund, and a brother, Raymond Gerth.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Friday, Dec. 7, at Max A. Sass & Sons Westwood Chapel, W173-S7629 Westwood Drive, Muskego.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Gerth Family in Joe’s name to be used at a later date.
