Wesley ‘Wes’ Dell Poppy

Wesley "Wes" Dell Poppy of Waukesha died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson at age 75. Wes was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Drummond, the son of Anthony and Evelyn (nee Walter) Poppy.

Wes grew up and attended grade schools in Drummond and then graduated from Washington High School. He joined the U.S. Marines and honorably served his country during the Korean conflict.

Wes married Joan Frahm on June 16, 1962, in Milwaukee. He worked for Sears from 1950 to 1994, starting out in plumbing and retiring as a home furnishings buyer. His hobbies included deer hunting and fishing, and he also enjoyed working on the house.

Wes is survived by his wife, Joan Poppy; daughter, Felicia Poppy; brother, Neil (Diane) Poppy of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Connie Poppy of Waukesha; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Dec. 6, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.
