Francis C.M. ‘Red’ Manning

Francis C.M. "Red" Manning of Waukesha died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at age 80. Francis was born in Clyman on Dec. 3, 1927, the son of Cyril and Leona (David) Manning.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. Francis was united in marriage to Ila Hogenmiller on Oct. 23, 1954. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. Francis was employed at the Waukesha Freeman for more than 20 years and volunteered in probate at the Waukesha County Courthouse for eight years. He also was a past member of the American Legion. Francis loved winning contests, spending time with family and being with his wife.

Francis will be deeply missed by his wife, Ila (Hogenmiller) of Waukesha; children, Mary (Mark) Schrimpf of Pewaukee, Michael (Sandra) Manning of Parkville, Mo., and Patricia Manning of Waukesha; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Cortney, Heather and Elizabeth. Francis is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by four children, Kaye, Gary, Thomas and Loreen; his parents, Cyril and Leona; and stepmother, Rachael.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Leonard Barbian will be officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.
