Herman D. Bree
Herman D. Bree Jr. of Hartland died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at age 80. He has joined his three adult children, Mike Bree, 18; Jeff Bree, 31; and Jenny Gammon, 49.
Herman began working at age 17, owned his own ice truck and delivered ice for four years. In his early 20s, he began working as a house painter for 15 years. He worked for Dow Chemical as a painter and in maintenance until his retirement in 1990.
Herman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hartland American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Dolores (nee Walters); the proud and loving dad of Linda Doerr, Dan (Deb) Bree, Randy (Lynn) Bree, Scott (Deb) Bree and Ron (fiancee Roberta) Bree; special grandpa to Michael, Dennis, David, Daniel, Rick, Ryan, Robbie, Jodi, Jason, James, Ed, Jessica, Nicole, Sara and Travis; great-grandpa to Matthew, Mariah, Mercedes, Luke, Bret, Isiah, Brandon and Brayden; dear brother of Harold (Vonnie) Bree; and dearest cousin of Evelyn (Ralph) Seidl.
Visitation and services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Drive, Hartland. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hartland American Legion are appreciated.
