Morlan B. Sormrud

Morlan B. Sormrud, 90, of Oconomowoc, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2007. He was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Hillsboro, to Fred and Ethel Sormrud.

Morlan married Ella Subera on Feb. 6, 1940. He retired from the Carnation Co., Oconomowoc, after 42 years of service. He sold monuments for 66 years for Archie Monument Co. Morlan was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a past master of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #255, F&AM, a member of the Milwaukee Scottish Rite Bodies, Tripoli Shrine and the Shrine Motor Corps and Oconomowoc Shrine Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ella; children, Wayne (Elizabeth) Sormrud of Jefferson and Sandra (Fred) Alvarado of Sullivan; four grandchildren, Kris (Tom) Lowerre of Hawaii, Kent (Sharon) Sormrud of Chetek, Lisa Alvarado of West Allis and Lori (Tom) Whittier of Minneapolis; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Nathan Whittier; two sisters, Hazel Dimitroff of Hartland and Nancy McKnight of Langby, Minn.; four stepgrandchildren, Anita, Nancy, Toni and Virgil; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sherman, and an infant son, Herbert Kent Sormrud.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave. (Highway 67), Oconomowoc. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 10, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 815 S. Concord Road, Oconomowoc.
