Myron Shields Brimmer

Myron Shields Brimmer found eternal peace Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at age 92, in Waukesha. He was born in 1914 at the family farm, the current site of the Fox Run Shopping Center, and remained a lifelong resident of Waukesha County.

Myron played football at Carroll College and participated in local softball leagues in the city for many years. He was an employee of Waukesha Engine for 41 years until his retirement in 1978 and was an active and proud member of the union and a steward for 38 years. He loved fishing, hunting and was an enthusiastic card player.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Wilma L. Brimmer, and his daughters, Barbara (Roy) Finney of Waterford, Marleene (Richard) Bloom and Marge (Robert) Beaster of the town of Genesee. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Patricia (Jeff) Hellman, Doug (Angela) Bloom, Todd (Monica) Finney, Chris (Steve) Draeger, Debbie (Mark) Pichler and Kelly Fuchs; 12 great-grandchildren, Vince and Dave Hellman, Kathleen and Michael Bloom, Paige, Davis, Reena and Brooke Finney, Nathan Draeger, Ryan and Lauren Pichler and Abigail Fuchs; his brother, Clayton (Ethyl) Brimmer; and many nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Brimmer, and brothers, Gordon and William "Red" Brimmer.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Feb. 18, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Interment will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery on Monday.

A special thanks goes out to the workers of Odyssey Hospice Service and Waukesha Springs for the care given to Myron during his last months.
